    A good experience

I have recieved an old Beocord 8004 from my Uncle. It has been out in his carport for 15 years in storage, there were seven layers of dust on it when I got it, and I thought that this might just be usable as a sorry looking donor unit with a rusty chassis.

I took it home and began cleaning that thing. Underneath, the rosewood is still looking pristine, no scratches on the surface, only a few marks in the aluminium finish. I plugged it in and loaded a tape in it, pressed "play" and it played like new. No mechanical faults, 4 LED segments not working and two bulbs blown. Fantastic, got an exellent 8004 for nothing but a few drops of isopropanol and 20 cotton swabs. This is what B&O is about; standing the test of time, both mechanical and aestethic. Definately a positive experience! Smile

Well SH at least we know how best to preserve those rubber belts! Store in a carport loL!

I have my fingers crossed for you that the missing segments will just be drys, and not the chips.
