Beolab 8000 - Line level issues

    Hi

I have intergrated my Beosound 8000s into my A/V system using the Line Level input, but I've got a curious problem.

When watching a movie at low volume, the speakers switch into and out of standby randomly.   This also happens when the AV amp is switched off, and also with the RCA lead removed.   It's very erratic.  The left speaker might do it, then the right, then not at all for hours, then starts up again.  So far they've not done this together.

They behaved perfectly when hooked up to the Beolab 2 and Beosound 3000 with the control link cables.

It's really irritating and hopefully there is a fix.  Anyone else seen this problem?

I have the same problem, but its normal, movies has long pases with very low or no sound, that does it, the link cables keep the speakers online, so to say, all of time when your Beo is turned on.

Beosound 3000, BL 4000, BL 8000, BG 2404,BG 5000, BG CD50, Beocord 5000, BM 901, BM 2400, BM 4000, BV S45, BV 3702. There is nothing we cannot do, but a lot of things we don't want to do!!

Ah OK, that makes sense.  I wondered what else the Control link cables did.

What I might do then is power up the Beosound 3000 and see what "keep alive" voltage it puts down the wire and replicate it with a small box of electronics.

In a nutshell, I want to use my Beolab 2 and Beolab 8000 speakers without the Beosound 3000.    This must be quite a common thing I would guess with AV equipment?

It is indeed possible - you might even find a description on the forums if you search with the correct term (Powerlink).

Anyway, this page has the pinout at the end, which should also be helpful. Signalling pin 4 should be enough to power the Beolabs on.

The phono connection should still work as an audio input at the same time (leave the switch to "line"). However, you might find it tidier to run the audio through your "fake Powerlink" connector as well, so you'll only need one cable to the speakers.

    That's really helpful, thank you!
