Stop Beovision 8 defaulting to format 3

Four out of five sources I have connected to this TV require presentation in Format 1 yet in each case the TV for some reason always initially shows them in format 3. Why? I want to make it start at format 1 unless there is WSS from the broadcaster. I also need to be able to STORE the settings. I have so far found no way to do this so at every source change I need to change back to format 1.

Pressing format>go does not detect optimum picture settings for the source, it simply selects format 3 every time! What is the point of format>go if it does not recognise a 4:3 input? Questions to the dealer get emailed to "B&O"  then simply drift away and get blissfully ignored so perhaps some tech person on here might know a way round this in the service or customer service menus.

    Thanks for any help.

I have the reverse problem !

My V.AUX with its FOXTEL SCART always starts in FORMAT "1" and I am always shifting it to "3".

The other irritant is that I wish it would start in SPEAKER "1" mode, but it always starts in "3".

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

How does the Foxtel manage to do this? Is yours a 32 or 40? Mine is a 40 with the latest software. Would a software modification would allow storing of formats for AV1-AV6 or at least for the main sources (TV V.MEM DVD DTV)?

I have PC through s video (4:3)  analogue TV (14:9) Zune player (4:3) and sometimes use a V8000/DVD1 play 4:3 material. The BV8 shows each source in format 3. It does not work as intended in the guide which says format>go optimises the picture. It simply stretches it to the screen size!

Mine is a BV8-32, not sure what my SW level is, I have tried looking for it on the service menu, but I think I have the wrong set of secret key strokes

FORMAT > GO just triggers format 1 by default (at least that is the text that flashes briefly on the screen)

The Foxtel is plugged into AV1 and set to V.AUX and always defaults to FORMAT 1 which just may be me using an incomplete SCART cable

AV2 is DVD which is associated to the HDMI to the Apple TV 2G ... and also has its SCART port plugged to a cheap DVD for optional usage

AV3 swaps the HDMI with AV2 and is used with the MacMini in PC mode

AV4 is another SCART to a B&O VHS recorder we never use

Only having the one HDMI is a small pain, I am trying to decide how best to redeploy the MacMini !!!

Re: Stop Beovision 8 defaulting to format 3

I can't get the BV8-40 to default to format 1 at all, even with two sources connected without scart! Format>go still goes to 3. Can anyone confirm that this is the case with BV7 and BV10?

The 8-40 has two HDMI's and I have the sytem module so plenty of connections. All that's missing is an additional Svideo input at the camera sockets which is there on the Avant and BV7.
