Are there any real differences between different IR-eyes?

In B&O's ML-guide there are two different connections for external IR-eyes. One that is connected with a 3-lead cable via a 3.5mm connector and one that is connected using a 5-lead cable via a DIN connector.

What are the extra two wires used for in the latter and is there any difference between different verions of the actual IR-eye.

The reason for asking is that I have two plasma protected eyes (8087030). One is connected to a Lintronic box and the other one was supposed to be used for an active link kit. Is this possible or do I need a different IR-eye?

    Any help is appreciated.

The IR eyes are the same. They are both for receiving 455 kHz B&O IR signals.

But the one with the 5 wire cable got additional control like volume up/down, power on/off.

The 3-wire version is just an IR receiver with 5V-, IR-signal- and ground wire.
