A Beocord 9000 riddle: I have it hooked up to a Beomaster 8000 via the correct B&O 7-pin DIN datalink cable. On the underside of the 9000 there is a switch with which one can switch between DIN and Line levels. When I received 8000 and 9000 this switch was set to DIN. After fixing the 9000 (thanks for the belts, Martin!) I tried to make a recording using the tuner of the 8000 as source. When adjusting the recording levels it turned out that the VU meters already were +1 dB with the sliders on position 1 (out of 10). The recording turned out distorted, too.
After discovering the switch on the underside I switched it to Line level, and voila, now the sliders need to be set at about 4.5 to achieve +1 dB on the VU and the recording sounds clear.
So my question is, why should the "line" position of this switch be the right one, if the deck is connected via the DIN connectors? Is it possible that US versions of the 8000/9000 have RCA output levels/impedances on the DIN ports?
Thanks!
