    Re: Hometheater setup

A bit more information might be helpful in consideration of your plans.

Your couch or chair positions, distance to your screen and front speakers, and rear speakers ?  Is the floor carpeted, tiled, or wood covered ? Ceiling composition is ? What will the height of the speakers and screen be in relation to your sitting area ?

Wiring or cable connection: Some members prefer more treble in front with bass in back, and others the reverse. I prefer slightly more bass behind us watching programs, but these are all active speakers (4 x BL 4000), using a Beosound 4 as the dedicated driver of our HTPC.

Best suggestion: Take your time and try everything out, slowly and carefully. Rear speakers only, front speakers only, side and front bass. Note how they change from floor level to ear level when sitting, or when canted back at an angle. Despite what you see in the catalogues, nothing is permanent, so you can always change it whenever you want.

    Re: Hometheater setup

The room is a basement carpeted.

Its approximately 33x20 - Please see attached. I guess I want to know which equipent to use. Having not setup the beosystem1  i was not sure if I can connect the beovox 45-2 or 60.2 through a beocenter 4500. As said earlier I do have the MCL2P if needed for rear. I can use BL4000 or BL2500 for center. I do not have a beovox cona and would liek to addon to the system once I acquire one - may be from ebay.

Hope this helps to understand what iam trying to do. One BIG question is what happens when i use my beo4 or beolink 1000 remote controls when the beosystem 1, beocenter 4500 with MCL2P in the same room - how will i set this up to use the remote with no conflicts

    Re: Hometheater setup

    Thank you for the update.

First, your room does not sound like you will have a problem with skip, or sounds bouncing off surfaces such as linoleum. Carpeting, and foam panels ( on ceilings, or walls ) will trap sound and make your system sound more clear.

Second: Your drawing took a bit of work, and is very helpful.

On the subject of multiple remotes, I know from experience that the Beo 4 remote will only perform some basic commands on older equipment, and not trigger every command. I found this out years ago when testing the then " new " Beo 4 remote on our old 7000 system. Basic commands were understood, but many dd not register. The 1000 remote and 7000 system although nice to look at, is now packed away in a closet.
