beolab 5000 wall panel speaker display?

    Hi all ,

Im the new very proud owner of some beolab 3000s and 5000s speakers, although i cant get any displays on them,

they are currently running though our bv3 which is masterlinked to the bs3000, mk3 powerlink from the bv3 to the speaker,  they sound wonderful but the only display is the red standby light

    any thoughts?

oh and while im at it does anyone know if its still possible to get a replacment plastic display panel cover?

    thanks jay

Speaker (and system) should be disconnected from mains before switching positions.

Choose position, then connect to mains.

How bad is your display cover and what colour do you have?

I have a spare that I will be changin on mine soon and you are free to have it if you want it!

Mine is the silver version. Only slightly marked on the silver cubed and the perspex panel is clear of marks, I was very lucky enough to have got my hands a new panel last year but have never got round to changing it!

wow , mobeyone thats fantastic and a very kind offer thankyou

mine have a dark blue cloth next to a chrome panel, at the bottom a brushed silver cube

havent really seen other versions , to be honest i hadnt given them much attention , i guess i always thought they were out of my league and have rarely seen them come up for sale, now i own them i can see why no-one would want to part with them

    thanks again for your offer,

im going to get round now to making some wall brackets as i cant wait to hear them on the wall

    regards jay

Drop me your details and I will post out to you soon! Just need time to get them opened up!

I think they are failry easy to replace, just some screws on the back which hold it on...

    Will see soon enough!

You need Mk II fully wired cables to get the displays working. I found this out recently when I let one of my Mk II's go with a pair of BL5000's I sold recently.

My dealer had only got Mk III available as replacement. That'll do I thought. But alas, no display. Replaced with a Mk II the following week and no problem with the displays. Now  I know the Mk III cable is supposed to be fully wired but I'm afraid it just don't work!!!

I have dead ringer copies of the B&O wall brackets available if you require. Contact me if you are interested.

    Regards Graham

Actually it was for Darren. His 5000s were dented when he lent then to a dealer for a speaker demo. Not a happy bunny at all and not surprising as his were truly mint.

The display covers only are held on with.............you guessed it. Doube sided foam tape!!!

And guess what, in true B&O tradition......the foam rots!!

The Mk II are a little thicker than the Mk III which were developed to overcome hummmmm problems with some of the newer speakers such as BL3 and BL5 which of course do not have displays.

I'll look out for a message, if I can find out where to look in this new place were in!!Laughing

My beolab 4500s don't display connected to my PC2 (masterlinked to bs3200) but do when connected directly to the bs3200 - ?they need to be connected directly to an audiomaster to function - have you tried connecting directly to your bs3000 before you start dismantling them?

Most of the ones that I've had have fallen off!! A little force should do the job.

    hi jasper,

ive just tryed your suggestion without success, although i thought it could be either a videomaster or audiomaster, you may be right about it not recognizing the pc2 (i hope not), i think joeyboygolf is right about the mk2 /mk3 powerlink cables being my issue. ill order some today

They will not display when attached to a PC2 - the display pin is not wired. Early PC2s also have issues with hum as the earth is not connected - there is a fix for this.

Re: beolab 5000 wall panel speaker display?

That would explain it - thanks Peter. I guess the fix you refer to is for the hum (which I don't have) not the unwired display pin?
