PS: i dont suppose anyone has a 3 bed apartment in New York next Feb they would like to lend me ?....lol..just a thought!
In the older days, many hard drives didn't like being run upside down. That is rarely the case nowadays, but if you know the make & model of the drive inside the Mac, you might want to check the manufacturer's data sheet / installation manual for possible limitations just for the peace of mind.

Now you'll learn to put the discs in upside down; the right way if you ever buy a CD50!
Bang & Olufsen - The art of controlling sound, picture and light
i was working at Plumbs when the CD50 came out....took us 10 mins to figure out we needed to read the instruction book !

Why upside down?
Beovision LX5500, BeoCord V6000, BeoSound 9000, BeoLab 8000, BeoLab 3500, BeoLab 2000, BeoVox1, BeoCom 6000, Form1, LightControl 1
because the right way means you cannot get disks in as the chrome surround hides it.......
Aha!
Although given how small and light they are you could probably have been even more minimalist and superglued it to the back of the tv
ah, but then i would still have a rather annoying gap !
There shouldn't be a problem running the hdd upside down. The Mac Mini uses a laptop drive, so it should be fine. I don't know about the optical drive, though.
