    What speakers should I buy?

I have a beomaster 5500 which I purchased a year ago without speakers.  In looking through the manuals I got with the system, it appears that it originally came with RL140 speakers.  Currently I'm running some small Paradigm speakers which trip the receiver when I exceed a volume of 20, and I feel certain that the system would function much better with b&o speakers.  So recently I've been looking to buy some on Ebay.  Should I go back with rl140s?  Any advice is greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

I would suggest S120s but I would first sort out the amplifier - it certainly should not be tripping at a volume level of 20 no matter what the speaker. The 5500 is a normal receiver and will work with any passive speaker, B&O or not.

Agreed... check your speaker wires to determine if there is any shorting.

When I owned a BM5500 I used it to drive a pair of PSB Stratus Mini's.  Sounded fantastic.
