    Beogram 5000

    Mods - if this is considered bad form, please delete with my apologies in advance.

    However, I thought I should share my Q&A with the seller of this Beogram 5000.

    I asked the seller if the Beogram 5000 has shipping screws underneath the platter like my Beogram RX 2.  If the seller confirmed there were screws under the platter, I intended to start a dialog which would hopefully assure me the turntable would arrive alive and well.

    Alas, the seller responded by saying he had looked at the turntable but didn't know what I meant by "platter."  I chose not to respond and won't be bidding.  The opening bid was $100 and last I looked one person had bid.

    Current primary listening:  SMMC20EN -> BG4002 -> BM4000 -> Beovox M70

    Re: Beogram 5000

    If the seller has no idea what a platter is, what chance is there of him knowing how to lock the transport screws???

    In my experience the radial turntables of this type generally arrive as a box of scrap even when the greatest care is taken with packaging. If I can't collect then I won't bid.

    Chris.

    The use of metaphors should be avoided like the plague. They're like a red rag to a bull to me.
