Does anyone know if the MCL2A x-tra speaker kit can be used with a BM7000? I'm asking on behalf of someone else and am unsure of the BM's capabilities.

No problem AFAIK. You are, of course, limited to the same volume setting in both rooms.

I sold the kit to a guy in Luxembourg who was told by his dealer that he needed the MCL2A and that's all. Having received it he asked me how to connect it to his BM as it doesn't have the correct MCL sockets and only the 7 pin din?

He's not complaining to me but obviously dissappointed and has been told somewhere that he'll have to fork out another 200 Euros to get it working together!!

I would look up the BM's user manual but despite paying for the membership renewal and it showing as gold on my forum postings, it only classes me as a bronze member on the main site

I am the buyer of the kit.  Thanks for so rapid reaction.  My only question is Where on my BM 7000 do I connect the MC2La ?  On the line entry ?

What kind of connector do I need to finich the 7 pin cable.

Since this system was designed for BM 5500m 6500 and 7000, it should be possible to connect it without any probs ?

Stonk, can you confirm which product we are talking about? Note that MCL2A, MCL2AV, MCL X-tra speaker kit and MCL X-tra active speaker kit are all different products!

As far as I know all of them are supposed to connect to the Beomaster via an MCL cable - and in all of them(?) it is connected to a screw terminal strip inside the box, so there is no connector for it. So you need an MCL cable with one end open for the MCL box, and with two 3-pin speaker DINs on the other end for the Beomaster.

The 7-pin DIN sounds like it is the connector for the IR transceiver (or a Beovision AUX, depending on the product).

(on the membership issue, have you tried logging out & back in already?)

Eric, if it's the same as a BM6500 on the back of your BM7-000 you should have two sets of passive speaker connections plus the powerlink sockets. Speaker 2 are where you connect the MCL cables. The connectors are in the kit.

Mika, it's THIS kit. MCL2a is part of it.

I think thes confusion lies in which sockets to connect the mcl cable with it's three pin connectors to the back of his BM7000. Eric is looking at the 7pin din which is incorrect. I have managed to look at the setup manual of a BM6500 which clearly shows the MCL sockets as the 2nd passive speaker sockets - just as the BC9500 or BM4500. Sometime overlooked when the unit is already connected and you can't see the back of the unit properly.

Sounds like you guys pretty much have it!

Cliff notes:

Power everything off

SPK2 -> 3 pin din -> MCL Cable -> labeled terminals

Transceiver cable -> labeled terminals

Connect the speakers

Set the SPEAKER PROTECTION DIAL to match the wattage of the attached speakers (Go lower for VOL limiting)

Power back up... have fun!

This is pretty basic kit... really just an extension of SPK2. Should you have problems at this point, we'll need to walk thru OPT programming. The MCL2A should be in OPT2 -the factory default.
