    Some help or advice please

Just got me a Beosystem 4500 in near perfect condition, but the Glass touch panels, I guess over time the sticky foam tape has gone,  what is the best way to replace this and renew.

Also I got a Beogram 3500 with MMC4 in OK condition (needs a good clean) when I connect this to the BM4500 via the Phone socket it makes the most awful noise, but works ok on the CD socket, any ideas

    many thanks

    Jon

Re: Some help or advice please

Jon, I have the same problem with glass panels on a few Beocenters. Each time I have used double sided carpet tape. It is nice an thin and has good adhesion. First time I tried the double sided foam tape you csan get. This was too thick and a lot of force was needed to operate the controls.

You second problem is because the BG3500 has a built in RIAA amp and so does the Phono connection on the Beomaster 4500. If I were you I would sell the Beogram as the ones with built in RIAA amps are perfect for using with later systems like BS3000,3200,9000.

Beomaster 4500 shouldn't have an on board RIAA but this doesn't mean someone hasn't fitted one to it. The symptoms sound like it.

    Hi!

Mine got the same problem. I removed the glass panel and cleaned the sticky goo with sonax(universal lubricant similar to WD40 but not confirmed) and stick the glass back to the plastic frame using transparent resin base epoxy (resin+hardener). This way,it will never fall again. I successfully did this on my Beomaster 3500,Beomaster 4500 ,Beocenter 9500. Hope this helps.

Hi i will be interested in your BG3500 if you decide to sell it (will even buy it as-is not cleaned?)

I use security window tape to repair mine (get it from PVCu stockists its .5mm thick and 4 mm wide and fit perfect)
