    Beogram 8002 help

Greetings, I recently purchased a Beogram 8002 in very nice condition except for the double sided tape on the panel hinge is deteriorated.  I would like to know if anyone has replaced it themselves and with what?

    Welcome to BeoWorld.

This is a known (typical) fault w/ this series.

3M makes excellent double-sided foam that is quite strong... also look for servo tape in a hobby store.

Short of that and prob a better fix... I would use a good multipurpose 2 part epoxy and never worry about it again.

Thank you very much Jeff; I think I will try the foam tape first.

Have done four I think. I used epoxy on them all. Something with a little slippage to start with allows you to get the shut lines spot on.

I have used 2 part epoxy on two of my 800x turntables a couple of years ago and it works great.

    Hi,

I used neoprene which has the advantage of setting quickly enough, but it still can be moved a bit to adjust. You can use this advantage to glue the cover at the correct place.

I've used 3M twice-it seemed easiest and non permanent, but I wonder if it doesn't do a lot to damp the aluminum, especially the tonearm cover which is a pretty well "tuned" piece (xylophone bar?) of metal.

I really appreciate all the help; what a great forum!  I think I will try the 3M tape first since it is obviously the least permanent and see how it goes.   Interesting comment on the dampening factor, but I don' think it would damp it any more than the original foam tape.

Exactly-it is very much original-like. Rigidly mounting one end of the cover with epoxy makes it more resonant.
