Another newbie question: Trying to put the ACRYAN PVR!TV remote function into the BEO5

    Hi all,

I have another question and hope someone can help me out.

I own an ACRyan PVR!TV and I would like to use the BEO5 instead of the supplied remote that came with it. What I want is to directly control the PVR!TV, not through the B&O system.

I have been reading through this and several other fora. On this forum, I found an update from Keith, advising to download a trail version of Remote Control II, do I got my old Ipaq 2210 that was collecting dust and put it to use again Big Smile .

For starters, I am concentrating on the POWER button, and will work from there on. The Remote Control II software returned this data back from the POWER button on the ACRYAN remote:

    0000 006D 0022 0002 0156 00AA 0016 0015 0016 0015 0015 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0015 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0015 0040 0016 003F 0016 003F 0015 0040 0016 003F 0016 0015 0016 0015 0015 0040 0016 003F 0016 003F 0015 0040 0016 0015 0015 0040 0016 0015 0015 0040 0016 0015 0015 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0015 0040 0016 0015 0015 0040 0016 0015 0015 0040 0016 0642

    0156 0055 0016 0E46

In addition, it told me the carrier is at 38.0004 kHz.

Now, how to go from here?Is this string the much talked about CCF code string?

    Thanks, Peter.

    Peter,

I can confirm that you have correctly captured a valid command.

Your captured command is in Pronto HEX format and decodes as follows:-

    • Carrier Frequency is 38,028.8 Hz
    • It uses 32 bit NEC protocol
    • It has a device code of HEX 00
    • Your "Power" command decodes to HEX 57

I have created an XML file for you to test and use as a template for other commands which you can download HERE

    Keith,

Thank you so much. I just tested and the button works great on the PVR!TV.  Can you help me further? What has to be my next steps? Do I need to capture all the buttons I want to use?

Thanks again for the help. I appreciate it.

    Peter.

Re: Another newbie question: Trying to put the ACRYAN PVR!TV remote function into the BEO5

    Peter,

Whilst, your TV uses standard 32 bit NEC protocol and uses the default device code for a TV of HEX 00 and there are some standards for commands, its clear your TV does not use these standard because the standard "Power" code is "12" and you have "57"

So, you will need to capture all the codes from your original remote and then convert them to NEC.

Re: Another newbie question: Trying to put the ACRYAN PVR!TV remote function into the BEO5

    Keith,

thanks for the answer. One thing though: The device is not a TV, its a device like the Tvix 6500 ( able to play Divx, DVD ,etc.. files) with a recording capability.

OK. If I have to capture all the codes, do I need the "long" form like I gave earlier for each button, or can I shotcut ( though I do not see the hex code of 57 ( bitstring 0101 0111 )  in the codes I gave for the POWER button.

As a side note, I contacted the vendor about these codes but they never responded . I did find some codes for a simular device from this vendor ( its the HD version of mine without the tuner in it and slightly different functionality )  and these are:

    Power------ 900A 006D 0000 0001 009F 57A8
    Mute-------- 900A 0068 0000 0001 009F 5BA4
    INFO-------- 900A 006D 0000 0001 009F 52AD
    TV SYS----- 900A 006D 0000 0001 009F 01FE
    Browser---- 900A 006D 0000 0001 009F 4AB5
    Copy------- 900A 006D 0000 0001 009F 41BE
    Music------- 900A 006D 0000 0001 009F 56A9
    1------------ 900A 0068 0000 0001 009F 05FA
    2------------ 900A 0068 0000 0001 009F 09F6
    3------------ 900A 0068 0000 0001 009F 15EA

    .......................................................................

Is this of any use ?

    Thanks, Peter.

Re: Another newbie question: Trying to put the ACRYAN PVR!TV remote function into the BEO5

    In answer to your questions:-

    1. Your device may not be a TV but it is using the "default" device code for a TV, hence why I said you will need to capture or find the codes for your product and it looks as if you have found them.
    2. Both the long form and the short form are fine, the short form is a decode of the long form. The long form is the actual pulse timings and you will NOT see a HEX code command decode because they are HEX timings.
    3. Where you find a short form, then the first code describes the rest of the string. In the ones you listed they start with "900A" which means its NEC protocol.
    4. If you look at your short form "Power" string the second from the end is device code and the last one is the command. So, for "Power" the last two codes are 009F and 57A8, actually they are not totally correct because the second pair should be the first pair inverted meaning they should be 00FF and 57A9 but many receivers don't check it.

    More info:

My device is called the PVR72100. No codes for thatone. But I did find the codes for the PVR73100 in another format like the ones I gave above:

    http://www.acryan.com/downloads/ACR-PV73100_RC_Codes.jpg

    and

    http://www.acryan.com/downloads/ACR-PV73100_RC_Codes.txt

If only they would have given them for my unit Indifferent

    Peter,

Based on your research it is clear the company uses the same codes for all the models you have highlighted, so the codes you listed previously are clearly going to work, so you are going to need the rest of the commands in either thr short form below or the long form

    Power------ 900A 006D 0000 0001 009F 57A8
    Mute-------- 900A 0068 0000 0001 009F 5BA4

Will this do? What do I have to do next? There are some functiones missing that are on my remote but not in the list:

    REC

    SOURCE

    INFO

    TIMER

    EPG

    TTX

Red, Green, Yellow and Blue button for TTX

I never used EPG, TTX , but I did use the others.

How to go further now? I can get the long versions of the missing buttons like I did with the POWER button.

Thanks a lot forthe effort and time you put in to help me here,

    Peter

Frankly, that is why I suggested you captured them as you did with the "Power"

Whilst it is clear they have defined their own command codes as you have found out, some commands are missing and I am assuming you want them all.

    Hi Keith,

thanks for the file. I found that it contains 5 buttons:

Record <- Doesn't work , seems to have the same function as POWER

Source <- Works like on the original

    Info      <- Works

    Timer    <- Works

    Power  <- Works

So Record is doinf nothing, though the light on the device flashes like itsa getting a remote control signal. Should I try to capture the RECORD buttong again?

    Thanks!

    Peter.

Re: Another newbie question: Trying to put the ACRYAN PVR!TV remote function into the BEO5

    Hi Keith,

I downloaded the new file and can confirm that the RECORD key now "sort-of" works. It seems like the device isn't sometimes getting the IR command clear enough to respond. I am making sure I am at a good distance. I am not sure but I noticed the following: When I press keys on the original remote and hold them, I see that the light on the device keeps on flashing. When I do so with the BEO5, I see a short flash, no matter if I hold the key or not.

It seems the device needs some time to respond to the IR command, and maybe needs it repeatedly? I always had to keep pushing and hold  the button on the original remote to get functions working OK.

    Thanks, Peter.

This is maybe a better description of the difference between pressing and holding a button on the original remote and the BEO5.

When the device is powered-on, it shows a continues blue light.

When I press and hold a button on the original remote, this light starts flashing until I release the button. Then it will show a continues blue light again.

When I press and hold a button on the BEO5, this light flashes for a short intance, and then stays OFF for the duration that I press the key. When I release the buttton, it show a continues blue light.

    Peter,

When it comes to "Repeat" using NEC protocol, there are the ones which following the standard specification to the letter which is as followings:-

by doing 1 one bit repeat signal rather than the whole signal which is what you have in the XML file, but it sounds like they repeat the whole signal again.

Re: Another newbie question: Trying to put the ACRYAN PVR!TV remote function into the BEO5

    Hi Keith,

this sounds like the remote and device do not adhere to the standards. The only reason why it acts this way is to give the device time to respond.

To tell you the truth, the RECORD button is the only button this exposes a problem currently. As there any chance for you to upload a XML with the navigation buttons:

    Up, 0X43
    Down, 0x0a
    Left, 0x06
    Right, 0x0E
    Enter, 0x02

This way, maybe I can test if RECORD is the only function that exposes a problem. If the navigation buttons operate fine, then maybe this is some flaw in the device ?

    Thanks, Peter.

Re: Another newbie question: Trying to put the ACRYAN PVR!TV remote function into the BEO5

    Hi Keith,

I just tested some more, based on your last update. This time I didn't observe the light but the screen ( Big Smile ) and found that keeping the button pressed on the BEO5 does appear to function identical to the original .

By that I mean an example like this:

If I press the TIMER button on the original and hold it, it comes up with the list on the device where I can put in the schedule. If I hold it long enough, it exits the schedule list and returns to the previous page on the device.

The BEO5 timer button behaves exactly like this , so the flashing light is no factor.

BUT, for some reason, this doesn't happen with the RECORD button. That seems to function ( sometimes) different between the BEO5 and the original remote.

    Very strange.

Forgot one in the request for nav key :

    Up, 0X43
    Down, 0x0a
    Left, 0x06
    Right, 0x0E
    Enter, 0x02

    And

    Return 0x04f

    Thanks, Peter.
