    Extremely Poor Service from B&O India & Denmark

    Hi,

    I was a fan of Bang-Olufsen far before they commenced their Indian operations.

    I have purchased their products from Germany, Dubai & Singapore then. Their products & service were amazing. My first B&O products had their manuals in German. I was surprised that within a week of sending the companies' headquarters(Denmark) an email, I received a physical copy of the manual in India. Another time, the companies' website pertaining to the wallpapers & screensavers were down. On sending an email to the system administrator about this, I was astounded to receive a HANDWRITTEN letter of apology from the company with a CD containing ALL wallpapers & screensavers of the company. I still have the letter and CD preserved to this day as it represents an apex for how far a company will go to service its customers!!

    Recently, I paid for a Beovision 7-55 in India WITHOUT a demo of the model purely on my faith in Bang & Olufsen. I was extremely sad that after the contracted delivery period of four weeks, I did not receive any intimation from the company about delivery. An email sent to Denmark on the 13th did not elicit any response. After this, I called customer service in Denmark on the 2nd of March and was assured that a person would call me immediately. I did not receive any feedback still. I then mailed the companies' MD, Mr.Jakob. Still no reply. I called Denmark again and was told that Mr.Jakob will not provide replies to customer feedback. I was also told curtly that proceeding legally would be my wish without any clarification being made about a solution to the issue(assurance of delivery, customer service....). I have asked for a refund now.

    I am extremely saddened by this callous attitude by a company that I once held in the highest esteem. For any company selling a luxury product, going out of its way to satisfy a customer is very important. The company seems to have lost its focus now. If anyone has faced a similar experience, let me know.

    Hi, on a lighter note, I also contacted the 2 B&O dealers in Delhi last week to ask for opening hours and price list, and have not received any reply so far..

    Like you, I remember writing to B&O a few years ago and telling them the trouble I had with my Avant, and telling them my technical abilities to repair the TV with no dealer around, and the week after I received by UPS a full set of Avant technical & service manuals, plus a B&O audio CD that is now a collector's item..Great service indeed! Nowadays I still send them customer feedback from time to time, by Internet, and you get standard /automated replies, but nothing more..indeed, the world is changing, and B&O too..Sad

    hi arun,

    welcome to the forum; at the outset i am pattabhi from b'bay and cannot agree more with you. recently i had bought a preowned beolab1 for which the chasis has to be replaced. my experience was terrible right from invoicing. they got my product serial number wrong, my name in-correct and would respond only on my followup.

    finally when they managed to get quote from denmark and my due approval (~40K inr) they handed over the receipt which was nothing less than (kirana a.k.a. grocery bil - the look and feel of the invoice)

    the sales personnel are a bunch of jokers who have a poor knowledge on products. mind you never ask for a demo in b'bay store as they think it to be a burden on them.

    being tired of them i get in touch with chennai office on querries alternatively singapore orchard road store. (soren there is a nice bloke)

    hope somebody at streur evaluates the dealership in b'bay, delhi and bangalore store as it belong to same person imo

    The B&O service in Thailand is also horrible with unskilled technician and sales !!! Late reply and poor after sales service !!! I tried to contact denmark to get some help, but so far NO reply.

    Hi Pattabhi,

     

    I am happy to say that my Beovision 7-55 was finally delivered last week.

    Mr.Anders Moller Hansen from Denmark finally responded to my queries.

    He requested for a meeting with me but I could not attend to him.

    He has dropped into India and personally inspected the functioning of the stores here.

    I got a confirmed delivery date first and good follow-up after that.

    The product was installed cleanly and I am happy to say that it is an excellent product.

    I am sure that service in India is bound to improve.
