Interesting news. I was just about to finally buy a BC2, but I have no need for the DVD player. I wonder what the new finish will look like?

I doubt that there will be a new BC2 model available in North America soon. The BC2 MK2 is available since 26 December 2006 in Montreal, Canada. The actual design is perfect in my opinion ( black plastic with aluminum ). I have the new BC2 MK2 and I love it. No company has attained such kind of perfection since today. My BC2 is connected with a Sony XBR LCD television. The quality of the image is absolutely stunning (my SONY DVD paid 1000$ - HDMI output - was not capable to convince me!!!- so I sold it…- in fact the BC2 connected S-Video is way better than 1080i HDMI!!!) . I have had a demonstration with the famous Blu-Ray and I was really disappointed. I have had a demonstration with the famous Blu-Ray and I was really disappointed. I have had a demonstration with the famous Blu-Ray and I was really disappointed. I think that the new design will be the same. If they will change something, I expect from B&O low quality (the BL9 is the BEST EXAMPLE OF A LOW QUALITY SPEAKER!!!!)!!!.
regards, constantine

Now that *is* interesting. I could do with an audio-only BC2. Any idea on the release of updated BC2?
First post on the new forum. Still trying to get used to this new design.

You are kidding? I saw the Playstation 3, with the Blu-ray Casino Royale DVD, via a BS3 and BV4-65 and the quality was out of this world - quite a few levels higher than my BV7-32 with standard Casino Royale DVD!

yes, this is what I should have said - that a regular DVD player is of limited interest to me at this point. So if they're not going to build in the new formats (highly unlikely) they might as well leave it out and save some complexity. Maybe it'll read discs faster as well. As for no benefit from the new format, you do the math. 1920x1080 = 2 megapixels. Which is 6x the information compared to 720x480 of regular DVD.

Should be any time soon, along with the ICE powered Beolab 4000s.

Agreed! The picture is an unbelievable improvement over standard definition, although a BeoCenter 2 running through a BeoVision 9/BeoVision 4 also looks pretty impressive now B&O has the BS3. Notice the sound though? MILES ahead of anything else, it's completely uncompressed, IE CD quality on all channels.
RE: BeoCenter 2 update
That's good news! Will the socket box show any other differences that we know of? Maybe smaller? And please tell me it's easier to option program!

How about a DVD-only model? I only need a DVD, because of my BS9000. Was going for the BV7, but that was before BV9.

Peter did you say ICE powered BL4000??? I think the current 4000 are the most underrated speakers in the range...

That's how you start a good conversation with Peter
I agree though, they're better than 6000s IMO...

I love my BC2 though I would love a software update possibility - I think the loading of DVDs are bit slow and sensitive. Btw: I have a PS3, top-notch Panasonic Plasma, and Casino Royal Blue-Ray movie. (No BS3 sadly) But the Picture is awesome - and no normal DVD picture I have ever seen (even the best on B&O) comes close to that! Christian Saving, saving, saving, saving, saving, saving, saving ...... for a BeoSystem3

Oh yes. The Bath store has two BL5s connected and the sound was so impressive, a few people huddled outside the store thinking that there had been an explosion, in-store.

I have, 6k, 8k and 4ks and the 4000 are the most impressive for their size and discreet placement possibilities, as you say, ‘better than the 6ks’ even though they share the same amps

I also love my BC2 ... I really like the Idea to have a Music only BC2, maybe the reason for Beo could be that Beo release a new DVD2 with HDMI output. In this case, you have to much DVD Option (BV7, BC2 and DVD2). I am a happy Men, I got my BeoVision 9 this Monday :-) ... now I have a Setup with BC2, HD Cable Receiver, AppleTV, Playstation 3 and Wii ... all this things together in one System and the Picture Quality... its come from another planet ... :-) But a BC2 with a Digital Audio Output could complete this System :-) greetings from Germany Thomas

Wasn't there a photo in the old forum showing a somewhat darker BC2, like a dark greyish similiar to that grey they were using for the BL7?

PD: OO OO OO!! Audio only!! That does sound like a seriously fantastic option!! I just love the design but can't afford it. Do we know if the audio only option would still have the DAB option (I know it sounds like a daft question but...)
Yes, it has DAB as standard in the UK.

But all DVD players can play CDs! It is part of the specification!
