    8002 for $600+?

Hi, Found one that looks really well cared for and the reserve is $600.  Should I spend near $800?  Thanks, new to all this so any help/information would be most appreciated.  Thanks, Nic

    Welcome to BeoWorld!

Not sure where you are, nor if the BG has a good cartridge (or what spec it is)... but, IMHO, that is a lot of $ for one!

Hi, The cartridge is an MMC1 in excellent shape I'm told as is the rest of the tt.  Thanks, Nic

Well, an excellent MMC1 will certainly make a difference, with people often paying more for them than the table itself by a wide margin.

Keep in mind though that any of these original MMC's will have a shelf life... you may get years of use, or weeks... so, I personally don't subscribe to buying BG's for their cartridge's value.

Are you able to view the table, or perhaps more importantly, take hand delivery of it should you win?

I am familiar with that table... the write-up sounded valid. Still a lot of money, but it seems to be a good one! What are your plans for connection, B&o or another product? (i.e.) Are you buying to match a BM6000/8000? The reason I ask is that the BG400x may be something worth looking into! Big Smile

Hi, Thanks again.  I'm not familiar with the BG400X so I can't comment.  Something that has also been suggested to me is to purchase a 70's era Mac, Sansui, Marantz, Technics, Pioneer, Sherwood or Kenwood Stereo receiver which is an interesting idea strictly for music.  Well that's two issue but we'll see how this all pans out.  I don't know anything about 70's era stereos either except I'd get a Mac if I could find one priced reasonably.

It's 'Mc', not Mac - as in McIntosh.  And frankly it doesn't belong in the same sentence as the other brands you mentioned.  It's far superior and it's unlikely you'll find any bargains on it.  It usually sells for the same price, or more than what it originally retailed for.

An 8002 turntable with MMC1 cart. just sold for $638 - much less than what I thought it would.  It's arguably B&O's finest turntable ever fitted with their highest end cartridge.

Hi Mediabobny, Too bad I got this after the auction was over and its also hard because not everyone shares your opinion.  However, I tend to give creedence to what you have to say.

I'm a Denon guy (4810 and 4306)  and while I have seen some bargain McIntosh, I won't be getting one soon. I want a good one but at least I have a plan now.  Since my buget for a turntable is $500 it looks like I'm going to get a Pro-ject III because that seems to be the class of the that pricepoint, unless you can help me understand differently.  Thanks, Nic
