    Beogram 5005 SKATING PROBLEM

I have recently purchased a beogram 5005.  All the controls of the turntable seem to function well, except from the tonearm.  As soon as it lowers on the record, it starts to skate all the way towards the end of the record, and then returns to its initial position.  I know this is also associated with the servo motor, which seems to work continuously.

How can I fix this problem? Any suggestions?

    Regards, Bruno Destickere

From experience, I would immiediately suspect the stylus!

    Hello, thanks for answering!

It's a brand new stylus SMMC 4 from Soundsmith.

So, that's certainly not the problem!

    Any other suggestions?

    Regards, Bruno Destickere

    Hello Peter,

How can I fix this? Is something damaged or is it just adjusting?

Where can I find it in the service manual?

    Thanks for help !!

    Re: Beogram 5005 SKATING PROBLEM

There is an adjustment for the diaphragm which is described on page 5-3 in the service manual.

Problems with the bulb or photo resistor have normally manifested themselves as a lack of movement rather than continuous movement in my experience but I suppose it is conceivable for the resistor to go closed circuit??

I have never known one to go out of adjustment so I think a member such as Dillen will need to take a look at it as I think you may have a technical fault.

    Regards Graham
