Newbie with Beovox 5700 speakers - woofer dustcap preservation?

Hi everyone, I recently acquired a pair of Beovox 5700 speakers which I absolutely adore.  I was previously aware that by this stage in their life, the foam dustcaps on the woofers would almost certainly have disintegrated.  Amazingly however, both dustcaps on mine are fully intact and look in really good shape, bar one really small 1cm hairline crack in one.  I'm frightened at the moment to feed too much power to the speakers in case this crack worsens.  I was therefore wondering if there is anything I can apply to the dustcap to seal this crack and possibly preserve the rest of the dustcap?  PVA glue perhaps?  Also, realising that inevitably I will need to replace both dustcaps, can anyone advise me on where I can get hold of suitable replacement dustcaps, adhesive material, and the process involved in replacing them?  Many thanks! Smile

    Welcome to Beoworld !

The best thing would be to replace the dustcaps using real speaker cement
    but less will do.
If the dustcaps are still fairly intact, you can brush them over with
contact glue, very gently as not to disturb them and to cover any cracks.
Give them a couple of layers and they'll be fine for many years again.
I may be able to suply new suitable dustcaps if you need, but I suggest you try
    the above first if possible.

Thank you for your reply, Martin. Smile

What contact glue would you recommend?

I like to use the black one from Casco.
It remains flexible for years and does not pull into endless strings when brushed on.

Sorry for troubling you again, Martin, but do you have a link to where I can purchase this glue?  Many thanks.

Not sure if they do international orders but this is the Casco 2963 glue:

I'm sure other products from other brands will work fine too.
