    Beolink 1000 Common Issues

Has anyone on this forum successfully resurrected their non-working Beolink 1000? What are some of the common problems and solutions for non-functional remotes?

I have one which had corroded battery contacts from leaking alkaline batteries. Cleaning up the contacts didn't restore the remote's functionality, so I checked the continuity of the connections from the solder pads the leads from the battery cage are connected to. It was good, so I measured the voltage across the terminals with the batteries installed. The voltage reading was slightly lower than that from a working Beolink 1000.

    Yes, dozens...

Common failures of the BL1000 are:

    - corroded battery contacts

    - broken wires from the battery box

    - water, grease, dirt on the contact foil

    - dirt under the foil

    - activated knobs by water, salt, grease or dirt

There are different BL1000 generations. The contact foil can be a seperate part or glued on the board. If it's seperate, then it's very easy to clean, but also very difficult to keep clean, the dirt can easy get to the contacts and make problems.

If the contact foil is part of the board, then the contacts are almost sealed, very protective against dirt. But it's not 100% save, water can still get inside. The foil can be removed very carefully. Clean the board with alcohol. The foil and the glue can be washed under warm water, but dont touch the glue. Let it dry and apply it again, it will work.
