    Beomaster 1001 indicator lamps

I have now replaced my redundant beomaster 1001 with another one.

It works perfectly ok but most of the indicator lamps no longer work and I wish to replace them all

to restore the unit to its original glory. I intend to do the job myself using the service manual so

does anyone know if the lamps are very easy to get hold of in retail electronic stores

such as maplins. Better still could they by replaced with LED's?

Martin (ie Dillen) ought to be able to supply the correct ones. I got a set for my 2000 (the old one) and they were just the job - even had a tiddly one that fitted inside the glass shell of the lamp that was glued in!

    Thanks for that.

I now also find that i can't get stereo broadcast on the fm receive even through a roof VHF aerial. If the FM stereo indicator lamp is not working could this be the caurs of this problem on old receivers.  The mono button is not pressed down.

I wouldn't mount LED's, the circuit wasn't built for it.
F.e. a LED will not be able to indicate the signal strength as the lamp does without eventual modification of the circuit.

I have correct lamps in stock if you can't find any locally.

I assume from this you can receive FM, just not in stereo? I wouldn't have expected the lamp alone to have made this difference - it didn't on either of my 1000's, anyway. Does this bit of your other 1001 work okay?

Yes the stereo broadcast and the lamp works ok with some radio stations on my other unit. However it's in a diferent location where reception is very good and i'm on the top floor.

I will be relocating my newer unit to the same place in a few days and then i do intend to try it there and see what happens.

    Thanks for that.

The 1001 service manual I downloaded is a little unclear to me,  are the lamps easy to fit once the area is reached?  Do they plug strait in or will i need soldering skills?

The lamps are of the push-fit socket type. If the wires are still good you won't need any soldering.
