BEOPORT + BM-Link NO output on Beoport headphone jack...

    Hello,

I just installed a Beoport (FW 1.31) and the BM-Link Software (1.50.2) on my iMac. USB + iMac AudioOut->Audio in (not IR) on Beoport is connected. The Beoport is not (yet) connected to a Beosound system. Right now it is just a line through audio...

As I do not have Powerlink speakers available in my home office I want to use my Soundstix and connect them to the headphone jack on Beoport.

I started the BM-Link SW in the systems preferences and started iTunes -> NOTHING happens... NO Sound comming out

What is wrong in the setup?

Do I need the beoplayer software? What would be the advantage of this SW? Could I stream the FM-Radio from Beosound 3200 to the computer and play there?

    Thanks a lot!

    Heribert

BM-Link does not offer all the features of Beoplayer.

It works only in Option 6, and allow distribution of N.MUSIC and N.RADIO to your main Hifi, but it does not allow you to listen to Main room music on your mac, or on speakers connected to the Beoport.

    Beoplayer (under windows) allow this.

That said, I am currently working on a Mac software that will allow you to emulate Beoplayer completely.

After installing the BMlink software, did you get an extra icon in the taskbar? A small icon with 2 curved arrows?

That's  the one you need to turn up/down the volume.

Sounds very interesting. Please keep me updated once you have finished that software. Do you have any experience in using a virtual machine for windows and the Beoplayer? I remember ther was/is a software that lets windows software run under MacOSX without installing Windows... But I cannot find it anymore.

    Thanks a lot,

Yes, I have this icon. Interestingly it worked very shortly after I have switched off the BM-Link. But then I needed to re-cable the setup and no way bringig it to play again...

    There were/are two software packages:

    1. Boot Camp - this switches at boot up between Windows and MacOSX
    2. Parallels(?) which is now called VMWare Fusion - this starts up a copy of Windows as a virtual machine (VM) under MacOSX but this results in additional overheads on top of Windows - but has the benefit of simultaneous Windows and MacOSX applications so it depends on how powerful your PC is

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

If you go to the MaxOSX System Preferences icon in your start dock and start it you will see on the "System Preferences" panel under "Other" the BM-Link icon

I always go there and stop/start the application whenever I am disconnect/reconnecting the application.

Here are the System Preferences panel, the settings I have on my BM-Link panels (x3), and the pull down options on the BM-Link icon

Thanks elephant for the details. I have the same settings except the ON flag in the menu bar pull down... Quite strange and no music playing...

    Anyone with an additional idea?

If you have set "Manually" on the "System Preferences" third panel, then you must tcik the "ON" option on the menu pull down ... that should get you your sound
