    Replacement Panels for 5000 / 5500

I've recently bought some of these off ebay from two different sellers.

I can thoroughly recomend barrie911 - his panels have a finish that is very close to that of the original panels - if I was being picky I'd say that they lack the slightly grainy finish of the originals - but your nose has to be about 6 inches away from them to tell! Not cheap at £20 but worth it if changing the panel will bring the item back to near mint.

I would not recomend paul.k2007 - his panels appear to be be painted with some sort of silver metalic piant -  they aren't even lacqured and scratch very easily. They don't look anything like the original panels. They're a lot cheaper (£10) and they look it!

    Cheers

    Nigel

    Thanks Nigel

That is useful information. How hard is it to remove the old panels?

Not difficult to remove at all Simon. They are held on with B&O's usual cop-out - double sided sticky tapeSmile

    Chris.

The use of metaphors should be avoided like the plague. They're like a red rag to a bull to me.

I've only removed 2 panels, one from a Beomaster that came off relatively easily and one from a Beogram that was an absolute pig....it wasn't stuck on with tape,  it was a piece of adhesive that was the full size of the panel. I'm sure NASA used the same stuff to stick the heat resistant tiles onto the space shuttle...how I didn't break the perspex lid I'll never know. I lost a few pounds (wieght) in the process..still worth the effort though.

    Cheers

Hmmm - those tiles have a habit of coming loose, so I'm fairly certain it IS the same adhesive B&O uses..
