    Preamp for beogram 4004

Hi all, i want to get a newer amp/preamp for my beogram 4004. I know i need a special preamp if i dont use the original 2400 amp. Id like to get a tube power amplifier, and if possible a tube preamp that will work with the mmc cartridge of my tt.  What do i have to look for on the preamp spec if it can properly boost the mmc signal?

It needs to be a moving magnet pre-amp. The output is about 2.5mV into 47kOhm.

Thanks for the info Peter! Do you have any suggestion for a preamp with those specs? I found out that the mmc cartridge output is only 0.6mv, but many mm preamp minimal signal input is around 2.5. .  Somebody referred me to a Rega Fono MIni, which has input sensitivity of 2.0mv for 200mv output and input loading of 47kw. Im a bit lost.

I think you are reading the wrong figures. The 0.6mV figure is the mV/cm/sec value for the cartridge. The average music output is 3mV. On the whole, B&O cartridges are just the same as most Moving Magnet cartridges. However the output is very slightly lower so the volume control will usually have to be one notch higher compared to something like a Shure cartridge. The Rega sounds absolutely fine. A reasonable price too. The alternative is to get one either from Lee or Steve.

Ok thanks again Peter for the good info. So i guess any mm preamp like you said, will do the job.
