    BeoGram 4002 Drive Motor replacement

    Hi guys,

I'm the proud owner of a BeoGram 4002 type 5521.

Since when I won an ebay auction a year ago, my BG4002 has always got a very light speed variation, constant in time like an oscillation, quite small playing the heavier 33 RPM records and more audible playing the lighter 45 ones.

This made me think it was related to the motor itself, whose speed variation was more "absorbed/hidden" by 33 RPM records' bigger inertia. If you think I'm wrong with this, please tell me what you think about it.

Anyway , I'm looking for a spare motor. It's a 3 pole, 3V DC motor if I'm not wrong (I saw it some days ago, I can't properly remind it, if you need please ask and I'll deassemble it again). I'm currently bidding on an auction on ebay: the seller told me that pushing the 33 speed selector makes the motor spinning, while pressing the 45 selector the motor doesn't spin. I think it's due to a problem in the motherboard, not in the motor itself. Do you agree with me? Should I keep on bidding or not?

Or, put it simple, is there a kind guy out there who's willing to sell me a 100% working motor + in good conditions for my BG4002 type 5521?

It's a multi-voltage model, so it can work from 110 to 240 V (I'm using it on 220 V). Maybe it's not important, as the inner circuits work at the same tension, I presume.

Thanks in advance, waiting for your kind reply and your precious help!

    Best regards,

    Luca

Re: BeoGram 4002 Drive Motor replacement

Take the motor apart, clean and lubricate. It seems that almost every Beogram
of this type will be in need by now.
Other causes could be the main board speed setting trimmers and/or the fingerwheel
operated ones onthe top panel. Excersize them a bit to shift eventual oxidation.

... "pushing the 33 speed selector makes the motor spinning, while pressing the 45 selector
    the motor doesn't spin."...
This is normal. Hold 33 to have the motor rotate the platter to ease record cleaning.
