    Freesat HD Recorder

Guys and Gals i am in the market for a freesat HD recorder and wondered if anybody has any good recommendations which can be controlled by the Beo 5.  I have looked at the humax one but i am sure there are other ones to be had.  This will link up to a BV 7 40 inch MkIII.  I already have a sat dish from my previous sky box which is still in place.  Your thoughts and recommendations will most appreciated.

There are not many units on the market for "Freesat" yet, but I would go for the Humax box because:-

    • There is already a PUC entry available in the B&O library for the HD Freesat box
    • In my view it is currently the best unit on the market, but clearly there are currently not many different types available
    • As the remote uses NEC protocol it can be controlled DIRECTLY from the Beo5 with full functions of the original remote including "repeat" functions if you do not wish to use the PUC functionality for any reason.

    Re: Freesat HD Recorder

Will upgrading to the latest STB-C eeprom (4.01 ??) which contains several Humax entries give me any support for a Humax or any other Freesat box??

    Regards

    Richard

    Richard,

The latest STB-C western European version is 4.11

Version 4.01 supports the following Humax products:-

    HUMAX Cl-51 OOC
    HUMAX CI8100PVR
    HUMAX DTI-41 00
    HUMAX F1-VACI
    HUMAX HDCI-2000
    Humax IPVR 9200C
    HUMAX PR-HD1000
    HUMAX PVR 9200T

Version 4.11 supports the following Humax products:-

    HUMAX Cl-51 OOC
    Humax IRHD-5000C
    Humax IR-FOX C
    Humax IPVR 9200C
    HUMAX PVR 9200T
    HUMAX HDCI-2000

As all Humax use NEC protocol and assuming they all also use the same product address code which would need to be established then most of the common functions are likely to work.
