    Bespoke plastic remotes

    Hi:

Does anyone have any experience positive or negative of the grey plastic bang & olufsen beo4 remote substitutes that are sold on eBay -  I am getting an MX4000 for a relative but want to sell the Beo4 thus part-financing the TV.

I know it won't look as good etc but as long as it turns the TV on, rotates it, changes channel/volume

    Hi Graham

I have one, not sure why I did but for a plastic remote its very well made. You do have to point it at the actual unit you are trying to control, that is, its not as powerful as the original. The thing that bugged me is that the buttons are in totally different places to a normal BL1000. I usually use it when I know there are children around so that if they get hold of it, it doesn't matter.

    Hi Graham

It's not a substitute for beo4 but for Bl1000,I have seen them in a  black bigger version looks better, but still the buttons are in different positions:why do you not buy a used  b&0 bl1000 there are cheap these days.

    regards

Used one once when I sold a Beovision. Had to drop it off and the buyer had one of these. Ben has pretty much summed it up. They are OK but you do have to point them unlike the originals. Not sure how good they are as a full replacement, I only had a quick go with it. Just to show thw buyer it would work the TV he was buying.

A BL1000 is obviously the first choice but I'd prefer to have my nephew banging a plastic remote on his head than a metal one and of course I always have the original on a shelf somewhere just to point out that, that is the actual remote. I couldn't have them leave thinking that B&O makes plastic remotes!
