    Powerlink cables

    Hi!

I am told that I am supposed to use Powerlink MK3 for connecting my pair of bl4 to my bs9000.

If so, I want to make my cables by myself. Could I find the design somewhere on the net? I have found some design cheets, the problem is that I don´t know if it is MK1,2 or 3!

     thanks in advance

Well you could do - but the problem with this is the risk of hum. BL4s are ICE powered and Class D amplifiers are very susceptible to any interference. Essentially all the cores will need to be shielded but if you do this, you should be OK. www.Beotech.co.uk should have some diagrams on though not sure if Powerlink 3s are there.

Surprised you are using BL4s with a BS9000 though. BL4s are in my view suitable as rear speakers or possibly computer monitor speakers. Or are they extra ones?

    Re: Powerlink cables

    Correctly guessed.Smile

My pair of bl4 are the rear speakers in my setup. A pair of bl8000 stands at the front. The setup is under construction, so the subwoofer and a center is to come. I made the choise to use Beo only for sound distribution (and for watching in hours =) which means that I´m using a DeToma X501 digital sound processor as "brain" instead of the BeoVision-series for the dolby digital. Eventually, computer sound, DVD etc will be connected to the DeToma and distributed to the speakers.

So to be exact, the cables will go from my bs900 via DeToma to my bl4´s.

A new question then, how many pins are the powerlink Mk3 using? 4, 8.. etc? There are many fabricates that are making cables with din 5, maybe I could use one of them instead of Beo´s cables. But then I have to know that they are using the same pins.
