A dear friend of mine came to me with his Beocenter 9000 and asked me if there where anything to do to make it work again. I thought I could have a look at it and after reading about it in this forum I knew that the CD player could be a problem.

At first as a old member I looked for service manuals. I found nothing for the BC9000.

After cleaning the laser/cd player I tried to play a cd and it  seemed to play as it should according to  the display, so this is ok but

1 Connected speakers (also headphone), but no sound in all outputs. Tried radio-no sound, connected on the AUX no sound,

2 The Radio when automatic search for radio-signal it goes straight to 108 . Manual search ok - but no sound in speakers

3 No function in the tape recorder - but I assume this is the same as in other tape recorders (belt or???)

4 Sliding doors to the tape recorder/cd player do not work. manually they work.

Otherwise the BC is beautiful, light in all display etc.

Do anybody have some views on this and I will be grateful?

This could be caused by a missing voltage.
Check for cracked solders, especially in the power supply areas, around the voltage regulators and adjacent capacitors.

I haven't been working on a newer B&O so take this with a grain of salt.

1. Open it and look for fuses, maybe the power board is secured with fuses?

2. Did you try this with antenna? Many radios don't work satisfactory without antenna, as the signal is to low the don't tune in the stations.

3. I would guess that this is caused by old belts. Open up and check it.

4. They slide with belts, probably belts are worn out, damaged.

There are 8 fuses, but how can you decide if a fuse is ok or not?

I really don't know which type of fuse there is in a B&O 9000 but if it's a normal fuse you can "beep" them with a multimeter. Set your multimeter on "beep", often a symbol with a round dot and two/three circular lines on the right. Set the probes from the multimeter on each side of the connectors of the fuse. If you here the beep the fuse is OK.
