    Pickup-arm Beogram 7000

    Hello all,

I have problem with my pickup-arm on my Beogram. First of all it almost always drops to early (outside the edge) and then correct itself. The error is "worse" on singles. When it comes to the end of the record it allmost everytime also lifts too early (again problem worse on singles). Then I have also noticed another stranges thing, the pickup "drags" to the right when it lifts from record. See video. Usually when i lift the pickup it doesnt lift straigt up as on my BG 6500 but in a right angle so when you then drop the pickup again its very much off from the lift-point.

Are these errors easy to fix? Ive read in the service manual section 5-3 and im abit reluctant to try this out of the blue. Or is it maybe better to just leave it in for service at Bang&Olufsen.

Notice the second time i lift the pickup it has a much more "straight up" lift then first time....

    Hope for help

Interesting! It looks as though the arm is not moving across as quickly as it should - hence the moving back to the straight ahead. I am not that technical but the arm moves I believe due to the action of a light sensitive cell at the arm base and I imagine this requires an adjustment. In normal use, the arm will go back a couple of grooves on the record, and this is very useful. The way yours goes makes me concerned that the cartridge will be subject to some damage.

    Thanx for the response Peter

I also dont wanna play that many records until I have fixed this since it looks rather "brutal" for the stylus. I prob need then to visit my Bang&Olufsen store and let them sort both problems out (at least try). The light sensitive cell is the "Diaphragm for Photo Control" in servicemanual 5-3 right?

    Thanx

These turntables are adjusted mechanically re:- pick up set down. As a gold member you can download the service manual and the adjustment method is in there. You need to set the 7" parameters before you do the 12" ones.

It isn't too difficult - even I have done it in the pastBig Smile

    Chris.

The use of metaphors should be avoided like the plague. They're like a red rag to a bull to me.

Agree with Chris - but the problem remains that the angle at which the arm is working away from the straight seems excessive. Certainly more than my one operates at.

Adjustment of the arm movement servo is also quite easy and is detailed in the service manual.  Don't tell anyone but even I have managed it!Cool

    @ Joeyboygolf

You mean the section 5-2 in servicemanual? I have read thru this section but im abit "affraid" of this one, my suspicion tho is that maybe screw C or D might be loose of have to be corrected. But honestly I would be more content if i left it to a repairman since the inside of the BG is abit too weak for brutal me :)

Thanx for the responses, but i think i will "chicken" out concerning the strange movements of stylus hehe
