Yes but perhaps 20-30 tunes if i remember. i´m not at home at this point.

I guess you need Beoplayer 5 because there you can connect to BM5. I guess you can just copy files via your ethernet but i havent tried it.

I don´t exactly know my price, we made a special deal. Installation was included by the dealer but i did it myself for fun :-).

Just put in the files to Beoplayer och syncronise... brgds ingvar

Okay, I'm going to embarass myself big time now; I have absolutely no idea what "home lan" or "ethernet" is - my laptop has got a cable that connects it to the internet that's all I know, and I know that I should probably purchase one of those wireless connections (although I would have absolutely no idea how to install that either). I guess my lack of knowledge means I should never attempt to install a BM5 myself? o)

I wouldn`t go wireless with the BM5. It has a standby mode (power consumption 1.4W incl. BS5!), but this won`t work wireless. The cable you need will be delivered with the BM5.

    Re: Up and Running

whats all this sync business do you have to keep a local copy of your music on your PC and sync is accross to your BM5.

that was you woudl need a 500GB drive on the computer just to keep up.

    is this correct

at home i have all picks and music on the beomedia and back that up once a month (ish)

    Beovision 7 MKIV (Blu Ray)
    Beolab 9

    Beolab 6000
    Beo 4
    Beocenter 9300
    Apple TV
    SKY HD
    Optoma HD65 Projector
    Lintronic TT455-RT-238
    Beovision 3 MKII

You choose if you want a copy of all music on the computer, When you rip music you can choose the target to be BM5 directly without having anything stored on the Beoplayer computer.

On the other hand you have all your photos on your computer i guess, at least before you send it over to the BM5. Brgds ingvar

    Re: Up and Running

    TWG:

But there ARE preinstalled tunes on every Beosound 5?

Is Beoplayer 5.x required to copy the data? Doesn't it work simply via network transfer (e.g. with Apple Finder or Windows Explorer)?

Can any of the new owners confirm a pricedrop!?

I'm gonna rip it with iTunes as a standard wav-file in CD format: 44,1kHz, 16bit, Stereo. It's ten times bigger than the same file as MP3 but it is TRUE losless :-)

All lossless formats are truly lossless (otherwise they would be called something else). Feel free to rip as wav format if you wish but ripping in wma lossless or apple lossless will sound absolutely bit perfectly, identical and take up approximately half the space, enabling you to store alomst double the number of albums with no loss of quality.

Generally speaking, you aren't learning much if your lips are moving.

Stefan, I guess that opting not to go wireless really means that the BS5/BM5 is not suited as a "companion" for a laptop (unless you are willing to disconnect the cable betweem the BS5/BM5 and the laptop when you want to work with the laptop in your lap)...?

    Re: Up and Running

My BM5 is connected to an airport station via ethernet. All computers in the house - mac minis and macbooks - are connected wireless to the airport station. BeoConnect and Beoplayer are installed on the (intel)macs. So I can use them as clients in mac- and in pc mode. I think you can connect your laptop and your BM5 to an ethernet hub....(?)
