Wrong Riaa Diagram in Service Manual

    Hi all,

I just noticed that the Riaa diagram in the "BG3000-700_service-eng.pdf" is not the right diagram.

In my Beogram4500 (type 5951) , i have a  Riaa Card  with the reference 8005250C and in the Service manual, its a 8005269

As i have problems with my beogram actually, i need to know what the difference is.

If someone could help with the right diagram, or......

    Thanks a lot

    Théo

Re: Wrong Riaa Diagram in Service Manual

    Hi Theo

My BG4500 (Type 5953) has RIAA # 8005250B - I used the service manual to check my unit, and didn't come across any inconsistencies.

Perhaps I didn't have the problem you had.

Would you like to tell us what kind of problems you've got?

Re: Wrong Riaa Diagram in Service Manual

    Hi Menahem,

    i'm looking for some advice.

For instance, wich wire from the Din plug goes to wich soldering place on the riaa pream.

there are 6 soldering places and i don't know the real place for each wire.

    Thanks for your answer

    Théo

    Hi Theo,

I've sent you pictures of my BG4500 with the wiring positions.

Let me know if that helps you solve the problem.

Re: Wrong Riaa Diagram in Service Manual

    Hi Menahem,

    Yes it helps...

But as i said in another Post, my cable doesn't have the same colors.

So the "must" would be, ( I do not dare to ask for it),  to check your Din plug, so we can be sure.

    Thanks

    Théo

Here is a home-made wiring diagram - using my board and my wiring colours ... now with an ohmmeter you can trace the correct wire.

The 3 black wires are wired together = all to ground.

    The Yellow is the data-link

    The Red is Right Channel

    The White is Left Channel

Doesn't matter what colors you have - the same solder points on the PCB go to the same pins on the DIN 7 connector.

Re: Wrong Riaa Diagram in Service Manual

    Hi Menahem,

    This time it works !

It remains a little problem : the left channel is not so loud as the right channel

I controlled all the solderings and all is ok. i controlled also the  Pickup arm height and parallelism, and

    this was also good.

But it doens't  annoy me too much.

It's great to sit and hear my favorite LP discs

    Many thanks for your help.

    Best Regards

    Théo

You may need a new cartridge to correct the sound problem.

Try Sound-smith.com  in the USA - an SMMC4 would be fine.

Buying a second-hand cartridge is very risky.

    Hi,

The cartridge (MMC2)  seems correct, and i have also a MMC4, and it's the same with both.

Re: Wrong Riaa Diagram in Service Manual

If both cartridges are giving you low sound on the same channel, the first place I'd check would be the contacts of the mute switch for oxidization.

A good quality contact cleaner, would do the job.

If you have an Oscilloscope, check the signal paths of both channels to find where the sound output level drops.

Thanks, i'll check  the contacts of the mute switch asn soon as possible.

and if it's not this i must wait since i find an oscilloscope.
