    Problems with Beo4 Remote ??

    Hi, I have a Beo4 Mk2 Remote which controls a Beocenter 9300 with a pair of Beolab 4000 speakers.

They are all hardly used and still quite new, (BC9300 made in 2000, Beolab made in 2004), a few days ago I picked up the Beo4 because I wanted to listen to some music but it didn't work, the LCD display still worked ok and the controls on my Beocenter 9300 still function correctly.

So I put in some brand new batteries, but still no joy, no remote control, although it then did work later that same day for a few seconds then seemed to die again!!

My question is, apart from taking it to a B&O service center, is there something I can do myself (I am an electrical engineer) to get it to work??

Also does it sound like the Beo4 or the Beocenter 9300 thats faulty?

Also does anybody here have a remote I can buy??

    Thank's

    Paul

Ideally you need to assess firstly which component is at fault with a spare beo4 or bl1000 before shelling out - you can buy replacement pcb's with new keypads and then you would have a mk3 remote but they are not cheap!  A few screws and a coupleof soldered joints required, you sound overskilled!   Perhaps your local dealer will allow you to take your remote in to his/her shop and for you try to use it with their equipment to determine whether it is the remote that is actually faulty.............. I am not convinced!!!

Check the 9300 is not set to Option 0. Press LIST and the red dot at the same time on the Beo4. Then press LIST till OPTION? is shown on the screen. Press GO, then LIST till A.OPT shows. Press 1 on the Beo4 and the 9300, which should be in stand by will flash a light at you. Then see if it works! Much easier with a Beolink 1000! Laughing SOUND,1,STORE!

The fact it worked for a bit then died makes me think you have a faulty remote though. Try it at the shop.

Re: Problems with Beo4 Remote ??

Thanks for everyone who posted, I have played with it again this morning and I am a little bit nearer to the problem.

A couple of days ago I purchased a Samsung 50" Plasma tv in the sales to go in the same room as my B&O equipment, (I've got an audio cable from the tv to BC9300)

The beo4 remote failled at roughly the same time, so this morning I switched off the tv and the remote works perfectly, no problem, then switched on the TV and when watching a picture, remote does not work!!!, but on a blank screen, it works !!!!!

All I can think is the tv is flooding the room with infra-red at the frequency the Beo4 remote works at !!!!

I have also played with the tv picture settings etc, but with no luck.

Has anyone heard of this problem before ???

    Thanks

    Paul

    Oh yeah!

Typical problem. This is really a shame, as I can't control my BS9000 when the TV is on.

Ok I have now sorted this problem out.

Today I returned the samsung plasma TV for a 52" samsung LCD,

The Beo4 remote works fine, together with the audio from the TV into my BC9300 to my Beolab 4000 speakers, it's sounds great !!!!

    Thanks for all your help.

    Hi

A quick and easy way to dertermine if your remote control is transmitting a signal is to look at it through your camera phone while pressing a button on the remote.  The display on your camera/phone will see the infra red transmitters blinking.

I've done this a few times to verify that a remote is transmitting.

Happy New Year to all and all the very best for 2009.
