    Beosystem 2500 cpu

Hi, i have a system 2500 of  which the local keyboard doesn't respond at all and most of the time it also doesn't work with a remote.

Once in a while it works and than it plays ok.

The doors seem to work fine all time though.

Now i'm suspecting the cpu unit and for a test i'd like to swap it with one of an Ouverture.

I have the service doc for the 2500, already measured powersupply of the cpu, seems ok.

However, the I2C bus showed no activity (checked with oscilloscope) hence my suspicion of the cpu.

Anyone who knows abt the problems mentioned and/or abt the compatibility of the cpu module in the 2500 vs Ouverture ?

Probably tried this: setting in option 1? My 3200 doesn't respond to the keyboard and beo4 if it is set in option 0.

So i needs to be in option 1 ? (to work standalone for now)

How does one do that ? (i don't think i read this in the doc but will look again...)

A next thing i forgot to mention (which makes me suspicious abt cpu) is it won't go into service mode.

But checking (changing) the 'option' is a good start :).

    Option 1:

link 1000.press, sound, store 1 store.

Beo4: Stndby + list, list to option?, list to A-opt, press 1.

After option setting, the red dot will blink once.

The remote won't work if you are in option 0 neither will most of the keyboard although some buttons do work.

You need to set it to option 1 as suggested. On your Beolink 1000 press STDBY, SOUND, 1, STORE or on a Beo4 remote press STDBY and LIST together then LIST until OPTIONS is displayed then GO then LIST until A-OPT then 1.

    Better if you have a BLink1000 ! !

Thanks guys, will try although i have doubts that this is the problem (none of the local buttons do anything btw and it doesn't seem the local keyboard is the problem).

Have link 1000 as well as beo4 here, will post the result :).

    Re: Beosystem 2500 cpu

After a few times trying it finally accepted the command for 'mode 1' and the result is that sometimes part of the local keyboard works...

But the strange events are still there: sometimes it doesn't 'see' the remote, if i turn the wheel of the doors a bit so the switch is in 'no contact' than it works again.

But this is not always, sometimes it just keeps on 'seeing' the remote and doors work normal.

Also (if it works) pressing [tape] results in the tapedeck starting to playback, with no tape in it !

Sometimes it goes 'normal' into standby (doors close, lights off) but sometimes the lights stay on....

So it's a bit like a haunted beosystem....

I had already cleaned and measured the switches of the door and cd clamo (open/close detect) since they're connected to the keyboard multiplexer, but no result.

It still leaves me with a suspicion about the cpu.

Now i can borrow an Ouverture here to try and swap the cpu but (so far) no 2500, would that work ?
