Regrets - What have you sold or given away & wish you hadn't?

Still kicking myself. Some time ago I sold a white Beomaster 3000-2. It was a beauty and I have no idea why I sold it [:'(] I'd buy it back in a heart beat even though I have no need for it.

A new BM4400 in rosewood that I had bought to replace a BM4000.

I sold it in the mid 1980s  to help fund the latest 5000 system BG5000, BM5000, BC5000 and MCP5000 plus RL60 speakers (latter traded in for RL140s on their launch).

    Beovision 3502

    Beogram 4002

    Beocentre 9300

    Beolab 8000

Wish I had the room to keep everything, however I like the idea of building up a collection and rotating the items in use. My new years resolution is to not sell stuff on unless I absolutely have too.

I have taken preventive measures - I never manage to sell anything!

Well, I did sell a Beocenter 2800 since the lid was broken and I didn't really like the design anyway. The other one of my Beolit 707's will go for sale as well, once I manage to find a way to fix the volume & tone sliders which were broken in transit Sad

Re: Regrets - What have you sold or given away & wish you hadn't?

About 5 years ago I sold a mint Beolit 700 in red, it seemed like a good idea at the time and have regretted it ever since. I've bought and sold a couple since then and am still looking for one which is as nice as the one I had originally.

Pretty much every piece of B+O weve ever sold!!

One of the drawbacks of loving the products so much i guess

the only cure is to buy more Cool

The one that stands out the most to me is a complete beocenter 7007 in perfect condition, partly because ive never had one since

Re: Regrets - What have you sold or given away & wish you hadn't?

BeoSystem7000 (all four units & MCP). Sold it on when I got my BeoSound3000 and BeoLab4000's.  Wish I had kept it all, but I have since acquired a BeoGram9500 to play through BeoSound3000.

Also years ago I had an LX2802. Even though I now have an real flat Avant, I thought that the LX sets were a classic design.

I also regret not hanging on to my corgi B&O liveried model van and BeoTime clock. The van was in mint condition in it's original presentation box.

Never sold anything... Just building up a collection pretty much one piece at the time...

Probably my B&W DM7s! I can understand why I did it now, and it does give me a chance to use my DM303s, which are IMO better. The DM7s were just stunning with choral & organ music and movies though. Never sold any B&O, other than a pair of CX100s which I gave away (and a BM4000 and S25s).

I had to give half of my collection to my (ex) wife too. Fortunately, I managed to keep the Beosound 1 SE instead of the Beocom 4 as "gold was not her colour" and that it was "not a proper system". Thankfully, everything else was replaceable.

Lesson learnt though. I'm never going to get married again. I'm just going to find a woman I don't like and give her my house!!

BeoCenter 9500. I immediately regretted it and came into a BeoCenter 9000 a little later. I've never quite been willing to go after another 9500 or 9300 considering I only own about 25 CDs, 0 tapes, and don't listen to terrestrial radio! My 9000 has been dutifully disconnected on a piece of furniture for years and will likely remain that way.

And as far as "the one that got away," I've put off buying a few BeoLink 7000s over the years. Now they also fall into the "too exotic and useless to really make an effort" category.

One day when I'm sitting on a pile of cash and have already outfitted my home with the latest B&O, I'll begin work on my "institute for obsolete electronics" and set out to find perfect specimens of all my old favorites. Until then, bringing home another old B&O piece makes my wife react as though the dog brought home a dead bird.

There is scarcely anything in this world that some man cannot make a little worse and sell a little more cheaply. The person who buys on price alone is this man's lawful prey. - John Ruskin

I gave away my Beocenter 7000 earlier in the year. It had to go as it mas making way for my Beosystem 5000 which I have never regretted buying. I couldn't have accomodated it anywhere if I had kept it and the inability to use the tuner without physically disconnecting the  CD player connected through the Tape2 socket was a funamental flaw. But it was a lovely unit and I still find my bidding finger twitching whenever I see one on eBay even though I have no use for one!
