beovision circa 2000, tube needs replacing, free if you collect

BeoVision TV from about 2000.  No blue colour as tube needs replacing.  Otherwise was working last time we tried it.  We need to move and have no space/time to repair.  Available free if you can collect from North London, and carry it down a flight of stairs (it's heavy!)

     No remote or cables.

What's the model number? Should be on a label on the back, and looks something like "84/23".

Um, I don't know.  I'll have a look in the morning and let you know (TV is in room over baby's bedroom - don't want to wake him now! Smile)

    I can find

    Item no: 1810967

    Type: 8133

And a serial number, but I'm sure it's not that you want.

    Also says Ministero PT 4/03460/20742

    Does that help?

    It's a later 28" curved Avant/VCR.

So all it costs is a broken back! :D

Heck, that's a pretty nice deal.

yes, just found manual.  It's a beovision avant with built in video.  measures approx 29" wide, 40" high.

So... anyone want it?  We are moving and can't store it and can't afford the repair (haven't checked, but guessing it would be expensive, right?)

Unfortunately, the tube of an Avant is the one thing we can't repair! They're also hard + expensive to change. You may want to "break" the unit and sell the parts. Mark

How much does a tube for the avant cost?

no idea how I'd break the unit or what the sellable parts would be or what they'd look like!  Do you know anyone I could contact (in London) who might collect the unit to break it up themselves?

I don't know who would do this for you. I suggested it, because I came across someone selling his Avant in pieces on eBay a while ago. This might be too much trouble, though. The pieces which seem the most popular are the set top box controller, and the DTS card. However, your TV may not have these. Mark

Why not try to put it on e-bay?

Maybe there is a person out there who wants to break it apart by himself and use the parts as spare...

I once sold a broken MX, where the buyer wanted the cabinet and contrast screen, which was in excellent condition.
