Hi Tony and welcome to Beoworld
The Beogram 1602 is the 110V US version of the Beogram 1600 which uses the MMC20** series of cartridge. These are integrated units and the stylus itself is not replacable. You can aslo fit any of the earlier MMC3000 to 6000 cartridges but these are now very old and liable to fail drastically in any case (if you can find one!).
By far your best option is a brand new SMMC20** soundsmith cartridge. They produce several the SMMC20E being the most affordable. I admit they are not cheap but well worth the money. You could try ebay for a 2nd hand B&O cartridge, but to be frank I wouldn't as is won't be cheap, will have no guarantee & will be quite aged so the internal suspension is not likely to be as good as it should be.
Soundsmith are now the official producers of B&O cartridges since they ceased production of their own and actually supply dealerships.
Chris.
PS. To remove the cartridge simply pull the body away from the end of the tonearm, they fit onto a spade connector - have a look at the pictures on the soundsmith site and you'll see where the cartridge body ends.
The use of metaphors should be avoided like the plague. They're like a red rag to a bull to me.
