Brilliant, the first proper photos, i like it. Just a thought, do you think the screen is fixed or will it possibly swivel to other side for left and right handed users?

Re: Another direction....
There is still compression but not as much. Here is the explanation from Wiki. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Lossless

Well based on the look of the Beosound 5, I would say the wait has been worth it. Lets hope it performs as well as it looks. Craig

mobeyone: Sits firmly on the fence... but I have to say that first impressions do last.. and I have to say I am not impressed.
Same here, looks plain bizarre. Almost too 'futuristic' for B&O

Re: Another direction....
jk1002: It cant handle Apple loss less files. Documentation says AAC except lossless.
You've seen the actual BeoSound 5 documentation - or the documentation that goes with BeoMedia?
As always, I feel you should reserve judgement until you've actually seen it. B&O don't design their products to look nice in photos, they're designed to look nice in real life.

Lossless is a method of compression (reduction of the file size) that does not lose any quality (at all) of the sound as it is able to restore the original audio file, bit for bit.

Re: Another direction....
I hope that large black slab is a touch screen!
I think it does look stunning. But lets hope there is some innovation in the GUI.
Otherwise might as well just spend £180 on an Apple itouch.

No touchscreen at all. I think we have to use those steering wheels

True - but let us not judge till we have experienced it.

Wow. I have to say this is a bit of a tragedy. Had I not seen a few of these in the flesh already I may have been equally anxious to glimpse one, but these pictures are about as unflattering as could be rendered of the sexiest audio master since the 9000 (BeoCenter, that is). I would say that if you are on the fence over the looks after seeing this image, worry not. The "spirit" is not captured here and "spirit" is why we're all here and not on the Harmon-Kardon forums. And after using those "steering wheels" I've never cared less about Touch. -Trip

Re: Another direction....
Looks great ..... I want one ! As many of you already have said, Let's just wait and see for ourselves. Personally I find it a better design than anything they've come up with last couple of years. Fully contemporary but still with a b&o flavour... And as long as it works well, this will be a winner imo.

Re: Another direction....
@ Alex, the documentation how to connect Beomaster to a Mac was posted here. No lossless. To be honest, I can live with some compression, that is not the issue for me. Looking at the pictures, I think it will come of that podest. It wouldnt make any sense for it not too designwise. The podest must be super heave to hold it and I doubt they needed space for electronics. I would think the lower wheel is a release. If that is the case, then they are one step closer selling me one. I can not really understand the excitement if there is no way 2 remote. That is one huge benefit of a digital library. If you want to change a CD, you have to get up anyway, so there is not much need for extended control. With a digital library, it just doesn't make sense to stick to a Besound 3200 based control model. Also, why would you have a second product next to your CD system which most would certainly not give up. 10 years from now, maybe. Today, probably not. Cheers JK

Re: Another direction....
One for me as well! It looks me that new approach to music has been implemented with the black screen and aluminium wheel. Just can't wait for November or time to have one in my home setup. Interoperability with my current link setup remains open but I rely on B&O. With that they have not let me down in the past, hopefully this is the case also this time!!!

Re: Another direction....
I just hope it looks better in real life! I'm really disappointed by this picture. Let's wait and see.
