Help with option settings for second Beoport

I am adding a second Beoport to my set up and would like to verify what option setting I will need and re-cabling of the speaker cables.

    My current setup

    AvantDVD room 1

    Beosond 3000 room 2

    Existing Beoport room 3

(I have other ML rooms but don’t believe their info is required let me know if you need complete setup)

    What I am doing

    AvantDVD room 1 (no change)

Beosound 3000 room 2 adding the second Beoport

Existing Beoport room 3 (no change)

    In room 2

I have the beoport and BS3000 connected to the masterlink cabling.

My speaker are currently connected to the BS3000. Will I have to connect the speakers to the Beoport?

Option setting, will they have to be like this?

Beosound 3000 – option 0 (no IR reception)

Beoport – 6 (one IR receiver in the link room)  in which case I will have to purchase the eye/ir receiver as I didn’t think I would need one.

I have set the Beoport in room to as Main PC = No

In this case how do I listen to what is being played from the main PC (e.g. N.Music) all over the house from room 2?

    Thanks for your help

You have lost me here! Why do you need two Beoports? The problem with having two will be Masterlink having two identical sources. Even if you set the Beoport to Option 4, this only works in the room it is in and external commands will still see it as a Beoport.

But why do you need two? I have all my music on one computer and access that from any room.

Re: Help with option settings for second Beoport

    Hi Peter,

I have multiple PCs connected with BL speakers.  In the advanced tab of Beoport configuration selecting Main PC = No stops the distribution of that Beoport.  So you don’t get any conflicts over masterlink if you do this.

It all works very well with multiple Beoports.  i.e. on any secondary Beoport you can listen to all masterlinked sources, save and play music from Main PC so you have one repository of music files.

I am just change things around in the house and would like to get the secondary Beoport working in the same room as my Beosound 3000.  Hence not quiet sure which options for that room.

FYI explanation from the Beoport user guide:

Main PC – It is possible to have several computer set up in a beolink system.  To indicate which PC is the ‘distributor’ of e.g. NMUSIC, you must indicate under Main PC is the main or secondary PC.

    All becomes clear!! Laughing

Have you downloaded the Product configuration guide? It may offer some insight? Only works on PCs though.

I would have thought Option 4 which will allow separate control of both the 3000 and the Beoport - or are you connecting them together?
