    Beosystem 6500 turntable compatibility

    Hello,

I've got a Beosystem 6500 and a Beogram TX-2 turntable. I understand that I need an RIAA preamp in order to connect the TX-2 to the 6500 system. I'm wondering:

    1. Can anyone make any reccomendations as to what make or model RIAA preamp would be best suited to my system?

    2. Would there be any loss in sound quality with the preamp? Is it worth it to buy an RIAA preamp for my TX-2 or should I just look for a Beogram 6500 turntable instead?

    Thanks,

    Aaron

Graham Slee makes good RIAAs. There will be no fall in quality - the Beogram 6500 has a built in RIAA itself - I would expect the Graham Slee one to be at least as good.

Hi, I also make a full RIAA pre-amp kit with Beogram to B&O adapter cables, which uses a mains powered Vivanco RIAA amplifier.  I've used this on my own Beograms and it gives a good sound quality and is very reliable.

Available in my shop on eBay UK or from Lee at Lifestyle AV.

    Regards,

    Steve.
