Photos of older B&O equipment at Danish Electrical museeum

    Hi there

I just thought you fancied some pictures of older B&O equipment. This summer I went to the museeum of electricity at Tange Sø, Bjerringbro, Jylland Denmark. They had a lot of things on display, among others a B&O wire-recorder. All my pictures can be seen here: http://picasaweb.google.dk/christianhaagerup/BOPDanmarksElmuseeum?authkey=XN7zIv_qZgc

the website of the museeum is here: http://www.elmus.dk/Default.aspx?ID=1052

     enjoy

Thanks. Actually, i think they displayed the wrong cassette with that recorder. My parents had a Lowe V2000 recorder, and the cassettes for that one was more ractangular.

Has anyone ever heard a wire recorder? Always wondered how good they sound. Great pictures BTW, thanks for posting them.

Yes. They are surprisingly good, at least B&O's of the 50's are. I would say almost comparable to the first cassette players of the cheap transportable type.

I never heard the Beocord 84U though but I recently found one of the even rarer Beocord 84UG playback only decks, currently undergoing complete restoration by a fellow collector/restorer as it was more or less a basket-case.

    Worth a visit; http://www.makarateyp.com/BO/K4_2.htm

Christian, thanks for the pictures, much appreciated. I carried a V2000 in Bellac, and it weighs a ton! I think Peter still has one but I'm not sure.

Martin! Fantastic link!  Your friend must have a lot of patience. The condition this wire recorder was in, most people would have written it off.

Is he a Beoworlder?  If not, can you point him in our direction?

Thanks Martin for the link. What a fantastic job your friend does in restoring these old machines. This is the same one who has all the reel to reel machines aswell isn't it?

You're right, that's a "VCR" cassette - the v2000 cassette looks like an audio cassette on steroids (almost like an Elcaset)

I actually has a VCR-60 cassette in my basement, unfortunately my grandparents old VCR machine is gone, so i cannot see what is on the tape :(

That old black and white radio looks so chic. Reminds me of a cake with heavy frosting.
