    Beovox S45

I recently purchased a Beocenter 7700 and was given a pair of Beovox S45's in rosewood  to go with it. The surrounds are very brittle and are in need of replacing but everything else is in excellent shape. I will probably never use them as I already have more speakers then I know what to do with, so they will most likely sit in a closet forever unless I run across somebody who wants them. My question is if somebody doesn't want them are they worth spending the money to be fixed?

    Re: Beovox S45

    Hi there.

S45 speaker is one of the most common passive speakers of the B&O product range.

If optically they are looking great why not spend some little cash to fix them? They are playing just fine.

    Best regards

Depends which S45. I guess yours are the ones with two grilles on the front and two drive units as shown here. These do suffer from foam rot and are OK speakers but nothing special. The ones worth keeping are these! They have a rubber surround to the woofer so should not rot. A great little speaker though some will find it a little bass light. Very accurate though and very good value for money.

    Yeap, you're right.

I've got a pair of the S45-2 and they are really great to listen to. Fantastic speakers to have with a vistage setup like my BM1700, BC1600 and BG 1700.

    Really excellent!!!

    Best regards

they are the S45's not the 2's so I guess unless someone here in the Los Angeles area wants them for free they'll just sit in my closet

    Re: Beovox S45

S45 speakers actually come in three flavours!

    1. S45 Type 6302 - three way speakers of the first Uniphase release. Single grille and resin back. I am not sure but I think they had the option of a trumpet floor stand - but I have never seen a pair with these.

    2. S45-2 Type 6312 - as the type number suggests, a development of the original with very similar performance. They can be differentiated by the fact they have a flat back covered in black vinyl. The badge on the front still is just S45 but the type sticker on the back labels them as S45-2. They come with square floor stands.

    3. S45 Type 6427 - two way speakers from the revised Uniphase speakers - not related to the previous speakers , probably more a replacement for the S30.
