    Dying Beovision L2502

    Hi,

As I love our old L2502, I'm quite disappointed it's slowly dying [:'(].

At first, in the middle of viewing a program, the image disappeared.  Just like that, without a pop or anything...  The sound stayed present, also the remote control abilities.  After a few hours powering down, the image reappeared.

But yesterday, it got worse.  When pressing the remote, the L2502 powers up, but show no picture at all and no sound.  Even the second red led (in the upper right corner) doesn't lit up.  Also the ability to control the beomaster by the datalink has disappeared. When pressing the remote, I now hear a short noise through the speakers...

Is this fatal or can a cap-surgery re-animate our beloved L2502?

All help would be kindly appreciated

    Kind regards,

    Joost

Surely it would be cheaper to just buy a new LX tv. They cost pennies in the UK now!

... but all other 2502 have the same age and probably the same problems, sooner or later ! You can buy a "good" one and it can fail the next day... they are 20 years and older.

It is a cap problem and most of them can be reworked.

Look for cold spots around the transformer and the larger resistors/coils, this type of chassis (made by Thomson type ICC5) has very serious problems with bad solderings.

    Thanks Martin,

I'm glad someone still believes in my Beovision :-).  When I'm back from holiday, I'll have a look.

Is there a risk of electrocution when the TV has been detached for more than a week?

    Kind regards

After one week without 220V power supply there should be no risk. Just dont touch the red high voltage cables, there could be still some static on the tube.
