    downloadable movie rentals

Last night, PS3 went online with it's downloadable move rental/purchase store. The store includes hi-def movie rentals.

Also, this autumn Netflix will offer streaming rentals via the Xbox 360.

    Jeff,
Intersting news. Very good move from Sony. I was starting to look at Blue Ray movie availability and pricing yesterday.
Hopefully Sony's rental list is large enough and price is reasonable.

I wonder if PS3 streams videos or saves them to hard drive and you can rerun them once you purchase it.
I feel like PS3 is great media device with a lot of hidden potentials.

    Re: downloadable movie rentals

I haven't tried the new PS3 movie store yet. The prices seem to be $1.00 more than Apple TV's movies. The movies download rather than stream. The selection isn't comparable to that of Apple TV yet; however, it's pretty decent for the first day.

It will be interesting to see if Sony expands this ps3 online movie store to BD live someday -- providing such downloadable content to all BD live blu-ray players.

Now we have several options for downloadable movies: Apple TV, Xbox 360, PS3, and Netflix. It would be nice to see B&O provide an adequate Beomedia-type system to integrate downloadable movie content, but it will likely be quite a long time before B&O lets the dust settle to choose one of these providers. Sadly, with B&O's preference for Microsoft, I could see B&O adopting Microsoft's xbox 360 online movie store. Still, wouldn't it be lovely to see B&O partner with Apple to utilize the iTunes store for it's movie content when it finally happens?
