    Repair a MX2000

I just accuired a MX2000 TV set for free. But it is not working. The stand by LED is on when i plug it in, and when i press one of the channel buttons the selected channel number is shown in the little display in the top. But there is no picture. It's like the tube isn't turning on. Does anyone know if this is a common problem with this model and if there is an easy solution?

Yes, this would appear to be the most common failure mode of these.

There is a good possibility that the power supply/line drive IC has died.  These are no longer available, but the one out of the MX3000 will work.  You should also consider changing the line output transformer as this is likely to have reached the end of its life and failure of this can ruin the new IC.
