    Back on board

    Hello Everyone

In 2000, I purchased a pair of Beolab 8000's. They were in a very large room, connected to my Avant and Beosound 9000, and did not sound at all impressive. I upgraded to Penta 3's, then to Beolab 1's. then added a subwoofer - all to no avail - the sound never seemed right, or justified the cost

I sold all the speakers and the Beosound 9000, and opted  for seperates, but missed the ease of use of the B & O stuff.

I recently moved house and was offered the chance to buy the Beosound back from my friend, and yesterday, bought some Beolab 8000's and a Beolab 2.

    Wow!

    The sound.

    Fantastic.

I am hearing detail in my music that I have never heard before. I was up half the night trying different CD's and they all sound fantastic.

I know that the Beolab 8000's are not the newest technology, but to my ears they are perfect, and the whole set up is here to stay.

Just wanted to share my happiness. I haven't stopped talking about it at work all day.

    Regards

    Martin

The Beolab8000 sound good even when they are off!!

I love these speakers, a true B&O icon.

Perhaps this illustrates the effect that room acoustics/furnishings,and speaker location has upon perceived sound quality.

I will take it you are especially pleased to see him back then! Hmm

Would you like me to delete a few of those, or are you busy preparing for the welcome back party? Laughing

    Hi Martin,

Nice to hear you're back and happy with your B&O. BeoSound 9000 will forever be one of my favourites.

    Dear Martin:

The BL 8000 sound quite good with the BL 2.  Perhaps, you're listening to them in a smaller room which can improve the sound.  As impressive as the BL 8000 w/ BL 2 sound, they do not perform as well in a large room.

    Enjoy,

    Re: Back on board

Room acoustics if anything play a bigger role in the sound of a system than the actual system itself. A £700 separates system in a room with fantastic acoustics will sound better than a £50,000 system in a room with poor acoustics, possibly even more than that.
