    MX5000 Type 3250 NTSC

I have a MX5000 I received from a neighbor (gave me the motorized stand too), He said it hasn't been working in 5 years, but when he talked to a B&O service tech about it, they told him it was an easy fix. He gave me no remote, I told him it was really important that he find the remote,  he's moving soon  and said if he comes across  it he'll see that I get it. So I have a broken MX5000 without a remote at this point. I got the set home and plugged in, I get red light at top right until I hit the power button, when I depress the power button, the light goes off and I hear an intermittent sound like a really small horse is galloping, then a faint beep...picture is all black....shut it down and red light comes back on. That's as far as I've gotten. Any thoughts?

Sounds like a problem with the power supply, had a similar problem with my MX5500. Anyone who repairs TV's should be able to fix it, not just a B&O repair centre.

is the layout the same in the mx 5000 as it is in the mx 5500, I was reading through the 5500 workshop thread, but I'm not familiar with B & O tv s, What were some of the differences between the older 5000 vs the newer 5500 and are there any upgrades that should be performed?, thanks for your reply.

As fas as I know (and I am no expertLaughing) the only difference between the MX5000 and MX5500. Is that the 5500 has two way I.R.

We're talking about the North American MX5000 here, which is a completely different beast than the European one. Best bet is to grab the Service Manual, which is available here on the site. It's 66 pages long, including large fold-out circuit diagrams!
