    Beogram 6006

    Hi All.

     Just a quick question.

    Is the 6006 datalink?

    Just got in doubt.

It is essentially exactly the same as the 8000 but has black keys and a MMC20EN cartridge as standard. It may well need a new tacho disc as this should be celluloid.

Totally different! The 6006 is just a rebadged 8000. The 6002 is completely different except for the fact it looks the same! It has a belt drive instead of tangential drive, and the record detection system is far simpler. It is far more like the 4002 than the 6006. It also has the later cartridge mounting - it comes with the MMC3 as standard. It also does not have full Datalink , only one way and pressing play on the Beogram does not turn on the Beomaster.

Actually sound rather good though ! Less to go wrong than on the 6006! Laughing

    Re: Beogram 6006

I totally agree whit you on that one Peter, I have had a 6002 for some time now, and it sounds just right and is never out of order. It sounds a bit more "round" than my beogram 5005, that one got a bit more details, but that may be down to the state of the pick-up (all mmc3 though).

I prefer the 6002 to the later tangential decks - I think the bass is better and the arm mechanism is more aesthetically pleasing in operation! Performance figures would suggest I am wrong though!

    Re: Beogram 6006

So basically you guys would choose the 6002 over the 6006, despite the lack of "two way" datalink?

I am asking because I have both record decks, and I don't know wich one to use with my BM 8000 and Beocord 8004.

No! The 6006 is the one to have but be prepared for maintenance.

Probably my fault. The 8000, 8002 and 6006 are probably the pinnacle of the tangential Beograms. The drive system is very clever and extremely accurate and it has the best arm drive mechanism. By later tangential decks, I meant the 5005 etc, all of which were the same as each other and which were quite lightweight and didn't have the same tangential mechanism.

I'm looking forward to getting mine. It got dropped off friday last week to Dillen.

I also have the stock mmc20en which seems to have little use and a nearly unused original mmc20cl.

How rare is it in white edition?

I bought it so I could compare it to my Bm8002 with has a Soundsmith mmc2.

    Hi Peter;

How would you rate these Beograms vs a Beogram 4000 (not Beogram 4002 or 4004)?

Thanks for the more elaborate answer Peter.

Then I will "donate" the 6002 to my son, he's 14...about time he got his first B&O.
