    Beolab 3

I am considering buying a pair of BL3s for home use . The dealership have quoted me a price of 3900$ for a pair. Isnt that too high? I heard they retailed for around 3200$.Also, the dealership is selling some static display BL3s for 2900. According to the dealer they are in perfect condition and have never been used.Do you guys think it is a good deal?

I cant go and demo the speakers myself because the dealership is quite far off, and my work doesnt allow me to make the trip anytime soon.

Can someone confirm the BL3 prices for me?
     Thanks

Prices went up recently on few products. I was qouted 4900 for BC2 with remote and BS9000 is now far above 5K.

The weak USD I guess ....  There is a pair mint on ebay right w for 2300. Also there is a seller called mikey who has some every now and then showing there.

I think 2900 is fair for buying from a dealer. I bought mine 2 years back for 3000. Ouch. BC2 was 4200 back then. Ouch again.

Is a very nice speaker. Give it a listening with the BL2. I have that combination. Awesome. I would buy it again even at current prices.

thanks for the reply..I think i will go with the display speakers then.

Do you guys think that their display speakers would not have undergone any sound deterioration? I am planning to get the BL2 sometime later, getting a system to replace my nakamichi slowly :)

Brilliant speakers, can't recommend them enough.
Get the display ones - speakers get better with time, and these actually need a little run-in.

Buying from the dealer means you get a warranty.

Since you are buying at a distance, don't forget mounts and proper connectors.  BL3s will buzz if you don't use special RCA to DIN cable.

A few years ago my wife and I purchased a pair of display Beolab 1s. Several months ago we purchased a pair of display Beolab 9s that had been on display for one month at 40% discount. We also have bought two pairs of display Beolab 4000s. The only speakers we have purchased new are a pair of Beolab 6000s. I have never regretted buying the display models.

The price for BeoLab 3 is $3900 usd. 3400 was the old price before the Feb 1st price increase. Just FYI

    Re: Beolab 3

That's right, and the rather substantial price increase on the BL3s was apparently "justified" because they were selling a lot of them at the previous price. What is really interesting is that, at the same time, the price of the BL7-2 was dropped from $4200 to $3900, putting it on a par with a pair of BL3s. Somewhat the new pricing seems a more accurate reflection of the performance of both of these speakers. I think that the BL3s were underpriced at $3400 and the BL7-2 was overpriced. Seeing as how the latter was/is being promoted as the center channel solution for BS3 + BV4 and also being bundled with the BV7, it must have nevertheless not been moving all that well. I have both, BTW, and I will confess that I find the BL3s to provide a better overall listening experience, both as center channel AV speakers and also in stand-alone audio-only use.

Ok, i JUST got the beolabs delivered...and guess what, one of them is humming when connected to a power supply and displaying a yellow light on the LED which means error mode according to the guide...I have sent an email to the dealer waiting for a reply. Is this normal?

I havent tried playing them yet so i dont know if they are both working.

    Re: Beolab 3

Yellow is no good... unplug it from the power for half hour to an hour. If it comes back to yellow after that then you have a problem.
