My (faulty) Avant has model number 8423, but my service manual is for models 8401-8408. Before I start poking around inside the set, can someone tell me the (internal) difference between the 840x and the 8423?

Your AVANT type number 8423 is a 32" Mark II or Mark III for the UK market

A 8401 to 8408 is a Mark I 32" AVANT with 8403 being the UK version.

OK, but what is the actual difference? Will the circuit diagrams be the same, or are there substantial differences?

I'm afraid that I still haven't managed to figure out - what's the difference between mk1, mk2 and mk3 32" Avants?
